Yum Char

Been planning to do this since the beginning of this week: Yum Char at Ming Court, Skycity.

Dining area at the balcony

Bigger dining area in restaurant

West meets East..

We rang and booked in for 11am lunch the night before hoped that we can get in there first before everyone else does. I thought there won't be alot of people but to my surprise, one of the waitress said that the place was fully booked! But we managed to secure a table. Phew that was lucky~ I guess with the price they charge, fully booked is probably a common occurance for this place.

Reasonable price aye mate!

Within minutes after we were seated, waiters and waitresses pushed their trolleys out which filled with Chinese delicacies and started serving. The best thing about Yum Char is that the food comes to us instead of us going for the food. People then picked whatever they like from the trolleys.

Below are few photos of food that was available..

Few Dim Sums that were available from food trolleys. Bellisimo!

Sticky rice

Egg Tarts, Sesame 'Balls' and thin rice noodle with blackbean sauce

And of course they served food that most Kiwis are familiar with such as fried Wonton and spring rolls, just in case tripe and chicken feet is not their cup of tea...

We were there for about 90 minutes just to realized that the range and variety of food they served is not as many as other Chinese Restaurants around. I guess for the price we paid we can't really expect too much. The food wasn't bad but I wouldn't say it was the best either. But we'll certainly go back again. It's worth a try and the experience, just like every other things in life, never know unless you try it.

After a heavy meal, I decided to go up to the tallest tower in the Southern Hemisphere, The Sky Tower. The cost of ticket to go up to the Main Observatory is $25pp but if you like to go up to another stage, The Sky Deck, which is six more floors up will be an extra $3pp. Since it was such a beautiful day and I had my camera with me, I decided to take up the challange and went up to the Main Observatory level then up to Sky Deck!

A model of Sky Tower to show where is Main Observatory and Sky Deck

After I spent about twenty seconds in the elevator with glass bottom which took me up to the tower, I was totally amazed with the breath taking view of this city in a bird's eyeview.

Glass-bottom elevator

I'm surprised the glass can withstand my heavy body weight..

Following are the pictures that I took while I was up in the Tower which I certainly proud of, more of the fact that to realized of how beautiful the city is!

What a beautiful day!

One of Auckland's reknown landmarks: Auckland Musuem on top of the hill

Wonder why Auckland City got the name of The City of Sails? Just look at the pictures below then you'll know why..

Just when I walked around taking snapshots, I saw this young girl leaned against the glass panel
posed for photo shots. 'Are you nuts?!' I thought. I wouldn't be stupid enough to lean on the glass panel. Come to think of it.. It's bad enough to do Sky Jump, not to mention if the glass panel shattered and people started to fly like Superman, only with no super power... Wonder how it feels like to free fall, I certainly wouldn't want to try it myself in a million years!

At the Main Observatory, there are a few of these 38mm thick glass floors. It was quite challanging to walk across these glass to the other sides while looking down to the tiny buildings miles below.

Then suddenly a teenage girl ran out from nowhere, jumped and stomped onto the glass floors. WHAT THA FUCK!! What were you trying to proof girl! Just plain and simple how stupid some people can be. Call me a coward call me a chicken but I would rather play safe and live longer...

Oh guess what! I spotted our apartment building when I was up there!

I had such a great time up on the tower. Next time I might try go up there at night. Double thumbs up experience!

Aargh! It's Monday tomorrow..
