31st August is commonly known as Hari Merdeka (Independence Day) in Malaysia. Although many thought that this is the day of the formation of 'Malaysia' but in reality, Malaysia didn't exist after Sarawak and Sabah joined The Federation Of Malaya on 16th September 1963.

However National Day celebration is still held on August 31, the original independence date of Malaya.



Picture shown above is Malaysia first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj announced the independence of Malaya from the British on August 31, 1957 at Stadium Merdeka.

Most years, a new theme and logo were made to celebrate this special day. And this year's is: Perpaduan Teras Kejayaan (Unity Is The Core of Success)
