Auckland Zoo is a 'living classroom' with 137 different animal species, over 740 animals.
So we went over the other day to broaden our horizon. The entrance fee is about NZD19.00 per adult, NZD9.00 per child (4 to 15 years) and free for infants (under 4). With an extra of NZD2.00 we got a copy of the map.
Just as well we got it otherwise we'll be lost in the zoo sleeping with tigers..
The zoo has an array of different simulated habitats eg:
Animal Planet Elephant Clearing
This is the home of the zoo's two female Asian elephants, Kashin and Burma. When we got there we just realized that the zoo was celebrating Kashin's 40th birthday. And because of that staff at the zoo decided to give Kashin a bit of total makeover.
Happy Birthday Kashin, although your makeup looks a bit out of place but you are still as gorgeous as ever!
This is Burma. It wasn't her birthday but she looked much prettier than the birthday girl. Even with painted toe-nail ah!! Oh well life is tough for Kashin.
Furthermore, painted arse... wonder if she knew she had a flowery bum bum
Ceee~lebrate good times come on~
Aussie Walkabout
Wallabies, kangaroos and emu share a mixed walk through exhibit which leads to an Australian bird aviary featuring rainbow lorikeets.
Ozzie Wallaby. G'die (Good day) mate~
What's up dude!
A type of colourful Lorikeets.
Another type of Lorikeets.
Found this peacock in this section of the zoo as well. Must be something in the air, the peacock was strutting his stuff when I walked pass..

He must be gay. They are just everywhere nowadays...
BNZ Kiwi and Tuatara house
This nocturnal house features native New Zealand species. Kiwis, Tuataras and an endemic owl species, the Morepork, can be seen here, if you are lucky. The house was design to be quite dark inside as Kiwi and Morepork are nocturnal creatures. When we went in it was so dark we didn't see neither Kiwi nor Morepork.. only a dark dungeon with cuffs and whips.. just kidding. But
there were quite a few of Tuataras, an endangered dinasour outside basking in the sun.
Don't mess with me, I'll scratch your pretty face. ROAR!!!
Hippo River
This area of the zoo has been made to imitate an African wetland environment. It features hippopotamus, serval, chamca baboons, cheetahs and flamingos.
Islands in the stream?
Oopps. Not really. They were two giant Hippopotamus.
Cheetah, the fastest land animal, has the ability to accelerate from 0 to 110 km/h in three seconds!
Beautiful Pink Flamingo
Just Juice Primate Trail
Auckland's two families of Bornean Orangutans can be found in this part of the zoo along with the ring-tailed lemurs.
Oii! What you looking at?
Orangutan, male. Can't you tell with its body hair?
This must the female Orang for obvious reason..
No this is not me thank you~
Native Frog Research Centre
This center attempts to recreate the frog's native habitat. But it was not opened when we were there so nothing to blog about..
Newstalk ZB Rainforest
Full of naturalistic exhibits this area boasts tarantula's, agouti, fruit bats and primate species namely; golden lion tamarins, cotton topped tamarins, spider monkeys, siamang gibbons and bonnet macaques.
Golden Lion Tamarin

Scratching its butt in public, no shame..
Siamang Gibbon
And it walks like man!
Pridelands
The large African mammals and Ostriches are kept here. Giraffes, zebras, springboks, white rhino and Auckland's pride of five lions are the features.
It must be something in the air because every male seemed to be quite horny that day..
African Ostrich. Oh no I still can't believe I had ostrich sausages for dinner two nights ago..
The infamous African Springboks
In the zoo, the mighty zoo, the lions sleep today~~
Sealion and Penguin Shores
Home to californian sea lions, New Zealand fur seals, a sub antarctic fur seal, little blue penguins and several shore birds.
And a fur seal showing his bum
Sub Antarctic Seal swam swiftly under water.
Baby blue penguin!!
Tiger Territory
Auckland Zoo features two rare Sumatran tigers, a male called Oz and a female called Molek. Oz is kept in a private enclosure completed in 2006. Molek is in a large enclosure which dates back to 1922 and originally housed up to two prides of lions. It has been extensively renovated.
This is Molek. Oz is kept in a much bigger enclosure next door.
On June 12, 2008 Molek gave birth to three tiger cubs. Initially, it was believed only one tiger cub had been born but two more were seen several days later.
Molek and one of her cub.
Paddlepop Kidzone

Apart from faunas, floras were all over the place as well.
