Port Douglas

Well the trip to Port Douglas turned out to be a blast!! Weather was nice hot and humid, actually reminded me of Kuching (hometown in Malaysia). And Sheraton Mirage was an absolutely stunning place to stay.

Day One:

Part of Brisbane's coastline

Arrived Brisbane for transit to Cairns. Nature called at the airport so to the loo I went. Guess what I saw in the loo..

I've seen alot of this condom vending machines around Auckland but never seen one actually sell fancy condoms. Maybe Ozzies are more adventurous in sex too. So I thought 'oh what the hell' and got one for myself.

It is a rather tiny packet for a condom, unless it is for miniatures... And of course there is no way the condom can fit onto my turbo charged powertool. Just when I thought about this, I turned the packet around and read this: Sold as a novelty only.. What a rip off!!

Anyway we flew over to Cairns and then up towards sunny Port Douglas. We were transport to Sheraton from Cairns in a bus without any air-conditioning. Just to remind you the temperature outside was around 30 degree... Not a very nice first experience for a lot of people...

After an hour trip of torturing, we arrived at destination Port Douglas.

So off we went to find our room.

Lucky number 1108

After we settled in we had a bit of rest, took it easy after a long morning of travelling before the big night.

The time comes when we needed to dress ourselves up with our costumes. Eight of us Survivors made our way to the hotel lobby waiting to be transport to the secret location for the first nights event.

The costumes for that night were amazing! I actually felt like I was in Hollywood at one stage partying with all the stars, under the stars.

Wilma and Fred Flintstone (The Flintstones)

Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates Of The Carribean) and Mrs. Police Officer

Grim Reaper and J.Lo

The Survivors from the TV Reality Show, Survivor. And I was the lucky one amongst the other players

The secret venue was called Flames of the Forest. It was a really nice venue but the only downside was, we couldn't really see a thing! They had only candles to light up dinner tables. It might be cool and romantic for alot of people but it wasn't really, specially when the night was quite windy.

We were told that dinner was serve but couldn't really see what we were eating... Apparently there were crocodile and kangaroo meat.. At that night, everything taste like chicken for me.

Day Two:

Woke up early in the morning for buffet breakfast.

Big restaurant for breakfast. It got really busy when patrons start coming in for meals.

Cooked food (mushrooms, sausages, porched eggs, etc)

Muffins, croissants, cakes, etc...

Chefs who kept an eye on the food. They cooked fresh omelette for diners too.

After we had our delicious breakfast, we attended an hour of business meeting. Team activities were the next event. Wonder what sort of activities that were organised for us? Well, it was beach cricket. I was so excited I decided to stay in my hotel room with a few of my colleagues who couldn't understand a thing about cricket...

In the afternoon we went to Port Douglas Town.

The original Didgeridoo

Sunday Market

Things they sell in the market are certainly alot more exciting than Otara market...

It was a real tiny town. Pretty much one main street that's it. The only thing that captured me was the lifestyle there. It was so relaxed and very slow pace. This would certainly be one of the top place to come and have holiday at, but to live here I think it will probably drive me nuts. No doubt it was a really charming little town thou.

Miller Party was the evening event. We were transported to Port Douglas Yacht Club at about 4.30pm.

It was a real cosy place by the wharf.

Really nice bar

Beside the bar there was this other small bar table made by ice!!

Apparently the company spent quite a bit of moolah to have this ice sulpture made. I heard it was supposed to stay upright until midnight but sadly it collapsed at about 8pm.. Well with the weather that warm I wasn't surprised, at all.

There were a few promo girls walking around the club strutting their stuff in bikinis asking whether if we like a sticker tattoo to be crafted onto our body.

Oh why not. Come give me one.

Tattoo that looks like from the Aztec era

Don't step on my tail. I'll bite

Oooh.. a bit too much for this gay ole boy

Couple of topless male waiters were there serving trays and trays of alcohol too.

And my knees gone weak...

After dinner and a few drinks, we were all up dancing and boozing the night away.

Beginning of the night...

Later on...

If only I'm straight...

Dance the night away

We were boozing on Miller Chill whole night. And of course Coke and Pump water is available for those people who don't drink.

Half way thru the night, bar staff started mixing Vodka with one of our latest energy drink, Relentless, and man it was yummy! A very unique taste but delicious!

The party went until wee hours of the morning..

Day Three:

Same as yesterday, we went for our breakfast. We wouldn't want to miss it for the life of ours. And then we went to do our activity that we chose to do. And mine was to visit Hartley's Crocodile Farm.

Once I walked into the farm, the first thing I saw was this!!

I was terrified at first but then to realised the croc is not real... bloody kids...

We were introduced to the farm where they raised crocodiles for their skins, claws and meat.. I didn't know people actually raised crocs for these. Quite inhumane when I came to think of it but hey, human raised chicken to eat them..

Juvenile crocodiles

I managed to touched this young crocodile and I was so excited!! The skin felt real soft when touched. Far different than the processed crocodile skin that they sell in shops.

Later on at about 10.30am, we were advised to head to the man-made lagoon to experience boat cruise with some free swimming crocodiles.

Vry cleverly made lagoon

Spot the crocodile!

During the boat cruise, our farm keeper showed us how some crocodiles were fed.

Warning: Photos below are not for the faint hearted.

Wah lau eh~

The keeper was teasing the beast and after a few jumps he let the crocodile gulp down that piece of meat. The excitement of watching this was better than orgasm in a way because orgasm only happen once but this was multiple climax.

Spot the croc.. again

No kidding there were literally lots of them around at this place. I was all crocodiled out so decided to go strolling see what else they have here. Soon enough I saw two Australia iconic animals.

Sleepy Koala. Apparently they only stay awake for few hours to eat then gone back to sleep again.. lazy~

Young Kangaroo

Apart from these two fellas, there were other weird, Ozzie only animals..

Juvenile Monitor Lizard

Water Dragon

My personal favourite, Bearded Dragon!!

They have an aviary as well where birds fly free in their own little world. I went in and thought to myself after seeing the birds: Birds are birds. They have two wings same as birds New Zealand. So sorry nothing to write about them..

After few hours spent in the crocodile farm, it's time to have lunch. Tummy was making funny noise..

To much of my delight, they do serve crocodile meat!

But instead of ordered the skewers, I ordered a Dinasour Burger. It consisted of a huge, and I mean huge crocodile meat burger, some crispy fries and fresh salad. All of those costed me AUS14.90, reasonable price I thought.

It was my first time tried out crocodile meat. I couldn't hide my excitement, other people there might think I was on some drugs or something. It was bloody hard to believe how role changed from seeing crocs munching on some poor chicken and fish and now I am eating them...

Crocodile from this...

To this...

Maybe it was because of all the chicken and fish crocodile ate, their meat was a little tough but to my surprise, delizioso~

After a satisfying lunch, it was time to head back to hotel and rest (what, it was not suppose to be a busy trip..)

There were signs of tonight's function to be found everywhere in the hotel. Maybe Coke staffs made too much noise the hotel thought to warn other quiet holidayers. Oh how kind of them..

Seriously after the last two nights of free meal and free booze.. I didn't really feel like having another boozed up night. I am not even a drinker to start with. Another reason was we had to wake up at 2am the next morning to catch the bus down to Cairns then flew back home. So that night was pretty much just a 'say hi and bye' sort of night without a sip of alcohol.. I know I know~

Our team from Coke Contact Centre Outbound Sales Rep

Oh yes, almost forgot to reveal who was the special guest only Coke could got him/her over here. You guessed it. It's...

DAVE DOBBYN, our own New Zealand Legend!!!!!

Apologize about the blurred photos. Mr. Dave Dobbyn wouldn't stop playing and posed one for me... But he was f*%king awesome when it comes to show business!!

So that was the highlight for the night.

Day Four:

As I said we were up by 2am Ozzie time and pretty much spent the whole day travelling until touched down at Auckland International Airport at 5.35pm..

Reality hits the next day when I went back to work. There goes the most awaiting event of the year for the whole sales department.

Bring on Conference 2009!
